Gunung Irau, Cameron Highlands 15 December 2012

Driving up the curvy and narrow mountain path to MNS-Boh plantation chalets which is located among the serene tea plantation.

My 8yo wasn't at all bothered by the damp muddy trail up to Gunung Irau. According to her dad, she insisted on reaching the peak. She didn't manage to reach the top at the given time. All hikers were supposed to turn around and head back at 2pm.

It is very normal to see hikers stepped into a swampy area and when they tried to pull out their legs, their shoe will still be inside the mud.
Every steps to be taken with caution.

Kids hiked Bukit Saga 2 December 2012

At Bukit Saga Waterfall.

It was a long and tiring hike without enough food. We underestimated the hiking time, thinking that we would  hiked down by lunch hour. This hike was longer than Bukit Tabur! We must carry our lunch in the next hike.

My 8 yo at the peak of Bukit Tabur, savoring her breakfast.
She commented "It is easy and I like the rocky part, the most"

Broga Hill 20 February 2011

Sunday 545am
This is the fourth time En Hui hike this hill. En is getting familiar with the terrain and ran up alone. I was out of breath trying to catch up with her.

430am drive to Broga Hill.

The breathtaking scenery at 630am.

It was a cloudy morning and we could only get glimpse of red in the sky. The wind was cooling and sky was blue.

Elephant grass, their favourite pick at the peak.

View from second peak to first peak. My lung was only able to take me to the second peak. En went all the way up the fourth peak for the second time.

Can you spot En climbing down from the fourth peak?

Sendudok

the ants feasting on the sendudok flower.

oooohhh how I wish I could join this camper - having nasi and hot beverage.

string tied to the trunk and lalang.

This was what uncle V, Rhy and dad did at the peak.

Shooting 'lalang'.

This is the En's best part. She looks forward to it, each time we were there. Yooohoooo sliding down the slope.

Broga Hill - 4th Peak 9 January 2011

Our third hike !! Started around 520am from the palm oil plantation and arrived at 605am at the first peak. After a short rest, we headed to the second and then to the third peak. A moment later, M urged us to move to the 4th. Without much ado, we hike to the highest peak. When we made it to the top, the first thing Hui told me was " I want to go home ". She had been hiking up mostly on her own and exhaustion sank in. Thankfully, she energised after rested. :)
The view of the first three peaks from the 4th peak.

Breezy .. and awaiting sunrise.

It was cloudy and we couldn't see the sun clearly but yet, the view was awesome.

Left- the last few steps to 400m above ground and En stood at the highest rock.

The sign "Selamat Datang Ke Puncak Bukit Broga 400m" greeted us. After the exertion, thinking this is the end, I saw another sign heading to 'Gunung Tok Wan', another 3.1km !!!

The rock climbing part at the bottom of 4th peak. Photos on En climbed down using the rope.

En arrived at the end.
Thanks to M who brought this stick along. It was a great help for me.

Hiking downhill towards 3rd peak.

En and Yee love the sliding part - got their pants filled with dirt. A faster way of hiking down.
Lots of wildflowers can be spotted over here. Sendudok.

trail left by the leaf mining moth.

En and her palm fruits.
When we made it to foot hill, Hui announced " Let's come again tomorrow" but shortly after that, she fell asleep.

Sunrise @Broga Hill, Semenyih 17 November 2010

I was indecisive if I should hike with enhui only, as dad had a last minute business travel plan. After much thought, I went ahead with the reason of 'delivering a promise'.

Direction - From LDP PJ, head towards Putrajaya/Seremban. Pay RM1.60 toll and follow Kajang/Semenyih signage. Reach Sg Ramal toll, RM1. Go straight. Another RM1 Bukit Kajang toll. Keep left after toll and take the left exit to Jalan Semenyih. Shortly after the exit, you will come to a traffic light where you need to turn right toward Semenyih town. Look for "Simpang ke Broga 500m" signage on the left. Go straight till you reach the rabbit farm and park your vechicle.

Left- the rabbit farm. Right- we hike from 540am and reached peak 1 at approx 635am. You won't be the only soul, as there is always a crowd of people hiking up and down. I am thankful of that.

En played with 'lalang' while Hui ate her muesli bar, awaiting sunrise. Hui wasn't afraid of hiking in the dark and trekked all the way up on her own, with minimal help from me. I only need to lift her up at some steep slope and manage to survive with just 3 pumps of ventolin inhaler. On the return leg, at steep area, I put her on my lap, climbed down in a sitting position and moved with my hands. After the strenuous movement, I got terrible muscle pain all over my body the very next day.

Sunrise ! We didn't see huge round sun till much later. Earlier, it was partly cloudy, I guess.

En made 'lalang' broom. She hike independantly with her friend but fell down occasionally. She didn't fall at her first Broga hike, so I guess it must be due to the sandal she wore.

It was uplifting, being at the peak & let's go again.

Panaroma Hill, Sg Lembing 15 October 2010

Friday 545am
Hike Panaroma Hill, Enhui's second hill attempt after Broga. Direction (from Sg Lembing Welcome Arch): Drive straight towards Sg Lembing town where you'll see a food court on your left. Turn left after food court. Go straight till the end. Park your car. It takes about 45 mins to arrive the peak but with young kids, it might take an hour (+)
We missed the entrance to the hill while stumbling in the dark. It was blocked by the cement mixer and a heap of sand. The steps are located right at the beginning of the foot hill. It took us some time to locate it. Hui was scared of the total darkness and refused to walk. After hiking approximately 3/4 of the journey, she finally broke free from dad's arm, when we were greeted by the sunlight. From there on, she climbed up happily. Poor dad!

Most of the paths are with cement steps (right) whereas the remainder is of gravel (left). It's relatively easier to climb than Broga Hill, due to the steps but it is physically more challenging.
(Left) The sea of clouds could be seen after hiking slightly more than half of the hill.  (Right) At the peak, meeting another group who were there capturing sunrise.
Sunrise. We watched the last part of it.
Eye catching sea of cloud from the peak. When we descended,  the cloud dispersed and Sg Lembing town could be seen.

A wooden chair built around the truck, left by construction workers. En was playing with one of the tool used to smoothen the steps.
