Homeschool Scout Camp with Quek TL (2nd) at Hutan Lipur Sg Sendat, Ulu Yam Selangor 5 September 2015

Term 2 of scout ended with an overnight camp at Sg Sendat.

Setting up tents.

The yellow tent pegs was turned into some sort of shoe holder by En.

En, was the scout leader for the camp.

Squeezing lemon - to make lemonade for tea.

Quek took so much effort to build the flying flox over Sg Sendat.
The gunny rope had to be carried across the river without getting it wet.

It made the kids so so happy.

Song and ghost stories at night.
Kids were also divided into group and were led and stayed in darkness for almost 15 minutes, with their survival kit

Warm-up excercise early in the morning before they were led to hunt for the hidden food.

The girls' tent in the morning, nice and tidy. :)

They have earned the "Lencana Keahlian" (Cub Scout Badge) !!!
The scout master presented them the badge after reciting "Persetiaan Pengakap"  Both grinned happily.
Thank you so much, Quek TL. We are looking forward to Term 3.

Camping at Rainforest Campsite, Sandy Coral Bay.Pulau Perhentian Kecil, Trengganu 17 July 2015

With the new extension of East Coast Highway, our journey to Kuala Besut, exiting at Kuala Trengganu was cut down by 2 hours!
We took a public boat with Save Park Holidays S/B (tel no : +601110843199 saveparkholidays@gmail.com) located at the tourist terminal building at RM70 per adult and RM35 per kid (to and fro). A private boat costs RM450. It took about 20 minutes from the jetty to Rainforest Campsite. Perhentian Kecil is nearer to Kuala Besut jetty as compare to Perhentian Besar.
We parked our car at Save Park Holidays 's designated parking area at RM10 per day.

It felt so good the moment I stepped onto Rainforest Campsite beach. Perhaps I was waiting too long to escape the city. The moment reminded me of how Leonardo Dicaprio found the magnificient beach at Phi Phi Leh in "The Beach" movie.

The wonderful huge tent in front of the sea is where the owner, Woklan and the staffs sleep. How awesome!

Looking at the beach photo made me wanna go back now.
Over here, the local boatman told me you can see clown fish and sharks. There aren't much coral and fishes. Water is crystal clear and good for swimming.
We paid RM40 per adult and RM30 per kid for a snorkelling trip, arranged by Woklan. The trip took us to 4 top spots around the island and a lunch stop at Perhentian Island town.

Woklan threw a queen size airbed onto the water for the kids to play!  Needless to say, they had lots of fun with it.

En and her friend chatting away, on one of the few hammocks available here.

Atah Batu Cafe is beautiful. While we were here, the chef was on leave and he was replaced by a Brazilian lady. She dished out delicious and refreshing meals.
For info, guests are not allowed to cook at the campsite. There is a USB charging station at the cafe to charge our powerbank or phone.

Atah Batu's menu.

Across Atah Batu, up the steps, is the campsite.

Our 4-men tents on the ground.
RM50 per tent per night for two persons.

The tent has airbeds, bedsheet and pillow.

The view in front of our tent.
Bring mozzie repellant. Mosquitoes are much bigger here.

There are two open air shower cubicles with cooling water and two toilets, located near to our tents.

There are eight more raised-up tents on wooden platform at the back of our tents. These tents are slightly further away from the shower and toilet area.

 Banana fritters

Serene morning breakfast by the sea.

Snorkel mask and flipper on rental. RM 5 per day.

I spent two evenings here, watching the stunning sunsets.
On the first night, we caught a bright, long shooting star. At night, the sky was filled with stars.

En climbed the rock to unfurl the Trengganu flag.

There! She did it.

1st snorkel area - Turtle point. Here we saw green turtle.

Affordable and delicious lunch at Siti Cafe, Perhentian Island town.

2nd snorkel area - light house. There is a lot of coral and fishes here.

3rd snorkel area - romantic beach. We found many sea cucumbers which reminded us of Teluk Keke beach where we camped two years ago. Teluk Keke was also our last snorkelling spot of the day.

Glamping / Camping at Eight Acres, Pahang 20 Jun 2015

The last part of the journey to Eight Acres past through palm tree plantation.

When I made the right turn into Eight Acres, we saw two horses grazing peacefully at the entrance.

Our tent is very very huge. The biggest tent we have slept in so far. The tent is from Australia. At night, we were woken by loud durians falling sound !

At the back of the tent, is the bathroom.

The side of the huge tent.

It is our first time sleeping on a bed that comes with bedframes inside a tent! :) Comfortable, huh?

Early in the morning, the kids went looking for durians.

There is a small waterfall within Eight Acres compound.

Camping at Bagan Lalang, Sepang and Cycling to Tanjung Sepat 30 May 2015

Early in the morning, dear hubby has woken up to install the bicycle wheel for us.
We camped at Bagan Lalang beach for the night, for En to cycle on the road early next morning. She wish to cycle far on the street. It was our first time and we had no idea where to begin. Finally, we decided to cycle from Bagan Lalang to Tanjung Sepat.

Both Mamoon and Chirpy have their sleeping bags too!

They were also coming for the cycling journey, safely strapped in front of En's bicycle, had a good view of the journey.

I was cycling behind, almost lost balance from taking photo !

I cannot recall how many dead animals we saw on the road. I asked En and she said 1 dead lizard, 5 dead birds, 2 dead dogs and 2 dead cats !!! ( Yeah, she has a memory of an elephant.)

We cycled more than 20km. A great start indeed.

Camping at Pantai Kerachut, Penang National Park 8 June 2014

At the jetty of Pantai Kerachut, one can see all sorts of jelly fish. The sea is not suitable for swimming.

This one here looks like a mushroom.

At the beach, there are toilets and shower facilities.

We climbed the steps adjacent to the shower stall, to reach Pantai Keranchut campsite.

Some parts of our tent was torn by aggresive Macaques, trying to reach the food within and hanging above.

Open shower at the campsite that filled with dried leaves and cobwebs.

What I like the most is the kitchen area where we cooked and washed up easily.

There is a turtle sanctuary at Pantai Kerachut.

Exploring the rocky areas.

Walking over the suspension bridge that overlooks a meromictic lake.

They found a tiny jellyfish stucked in a low tide at the meromictic lake.

They rescued it by scooping it into their pail

and released it into the sea.
