Caine's Arcade Global Day of Play 6 October 2012

When I read about this event, I am so sure my children would love to be part of it. They love boxes. In fact, I think all children love boxes, if only their parents allow them to play with it.  I showed her the video above and explained how it works, build your games out of box, group together with other kids from CLIC (Cooperative Learning Initiative Centre, read here) , invite people to play and the fund goes to Imagination Foundation. Without much hesitation, they said "YEAH".

The walking ticketing machine. :)

In a flash, she thought up a game and set to work.

Her initial idea was 10cent per game and RM1 for a "fun card" that entitles to unlimited play.
The customer have to insert the money into the box and a ticket would be issued. (check the video).
As I am not sure how exactly the payment system work at CLIC, I told her to "prepare for changes and see how to adapt to it. Life is full of changes"
At CLIC, they have a standardized payment of RM1 = 2 tokens.
After discussing with my child, she adjusted her ticket booth to 1 token = 1 game, 2 token for a fun card.
I thought the inserting of token and waiting for the ticket to be slotted out of the box idea is slow. It turned out to be fun for the children-customers. They love looking at the ticket being slotted out!

Measure your height here.
She said " she doesn't want to make any child cry" and so, her height measurement started from 0 which also means everyone get to play.

The height measurement corresponds with the measurement on the floor. The customer has to stand where his/her height is.
Customer is given 5 balls. Each successful throw will get to choose a sticker.

The game attracted a crowd. By 12pm, she was exhausted.

The little toddler was one of the loyal customer. :) She was waiting for her stickers.

The busy arcade.

Rio De Janeiro Slum 26 April 2011

EnHui carried a whole load of things out to the corridor and spent half a day there.
It looked like a slum which was similar to a scene of  the movie "Rio" that we just watched.

Balloon & mini stick 4 April 2011

I saw this balloon and stick game which I used to play during my childhood at Greenway supermarket, Centrepoint. En likes hearing story of me, how my life was before I have her.

So quiet.. 8 December 2010

Wednesday
After a having short break, with no disturbance, I wonder what were the two girls up to.
Hui was so engrossed in her princess story books, with 4 scenes, 14 paper dolls, 95 fashion clings and more. ehm.. I gotta thank aunty s m for this magic book.

En became the bike-designer, stamping & cutting and gave our bike a new look.

Well, I prefer the original look of my mountain bike. Guess I am going to shy away from cycling for a while. Hui's bike wasn't being spared as well and she seems to like the new look!

Ahoy Matey 27 November 2010

With no boys at home, the only person who fights with EnHui was their dad. Hui charged at him with no mercy. Her tagline ' I am Ultraman and Ultraman cannot be killed ' when dad pinned her down.

Bumble Bee 8 November 2010

uncle Bryan gave enhui a bumble bee. He said 'he will look for the instruction manual and pass to me'. 'It is quite difficult to tansform', he added. I told him, I don't need the manual as I won't have the time to read and learn. Beside, teaching is not what I do.
After saying adios,  En excitedly set to work, transforming it from car to robot and back to car.
Hui took over and changed it to both forms too. Left- she couldn't store the head and this time around, it was En who demonstrated with a 'know-it-all' tone. :)

Transformer? 3 November 2010

Wednesday
Hui showed her new discovery of a toy-truck which can be transformed into a robot.
She could transform it really fast and will happily show you as many times as you would like to see it. :)
Truck vs robot.

Hui said 'you can put the arms behind or in front'. When En does it, she would forget one or two parts and Hui would prod her sister with a 'know-it-all' tone! :)

I try to avoid stereotyping mini-Men are from Mars or mini-Women from Venus. Inadvertently, Enhui are able to grasp it from others like  "Girls must not climb. Only boys do", "Pink is not for boys"  etc  :)

Puzzle Craze - Sequel 27 October 2010

Wednesday am
She assembled the 48 pieces set without help, which she started 2 days ago.

Another two new sets she assembled on her own.
She joyfully showed me her work. What amazed me was, she recalled the exact location when she picks up the jigsaw pieces and know the description as well. Right - example, she said 'this is the father bear's ear and it's here. (the tiny ear on the right side of the jigsaw piece).
Young children displays amazing photo-memory ability, a right brain memory that allows us to remember things in a flash.

Puzzle Craze 26 October 2010

Hui is crazy for puzzles for almost 3 week now. She could sit down quietly for a good 15-45 minutes, solving it all by herself.  Yesterday morning, she attempted a new set, 48 pieces of smaller size. I was asked to help out. This morning, she tryout the same piece on her own. No, I didn't set the ball rolling. The puzzles existed since En was one. Hui picked one up and been working on it thereafter.
