Portuguese Settlement Heritage Museum Melaka 9 January 2016

A friend recommended me to this museum. It is located at the end of the row of shops and restaurants at Portuguese Village.

The area was quiet and the museum was closed when we arrived. I called the contact number displayed at the entrance and Jerry picked up the phone and opened the door for us. He gave us a tour at the collection contributed by the residents of the settlement. It was informative and I was told to return on the festivals day to experience real home cooked Portuguese food. There are rhe San Juan, Intrudu and San Pedro festivals

Prison Museum, Jalan Parameswara Melaka 11 October 2015

Stepping past this green prison gate sent shivers down my spine.

I was excited stumbling upon this prison museum while driving in Melaka. A visit to a prison has been on En's list for the longest time. And I can't wait (with wobbly legs) to bring her here when she is back from Europe.

A dummy at the watch tower of the prison.

We are allowed to take photos inside the prison except at the gallow and corporal punishment area. It was too creepy for me to take any except at the watch tower, in the broad daylight! The prison was quiet when we visited and we were alone most of the time. The ticketing staff said, "Tour guide is only available on the week day."

Cheng Ho Cultural Museum, Lorong Hang Jebat, Melaka 23 August 2015

Cheng Ho Cultural Museum is informative. I came unprepared, that is with no whatsoever sharing with my kids beforehand. I have forgotten almost everything I learnt in school !  When I paid for the tickets, the lady at the counter told me there will be a tour guide! I was thrilled. I thank her profusely and walked to where she pointed to. At the entrance, Jimmy, the guide greeted us with a friendly smile and share generously and passionately with us. I think I learn more from him than all my years of schooling in a the history class.

Hui stared at the "precious" upon learning about castration !

Looking for lost treasure in the well.

Besides having vast knowledge of Cheng Ho, Jimmy is also funny. He tried to trick us into believing that these machinese are used to torture the criminal !

This is how a sleeping cabin looks like in one of the many ships in Admiral Cheng Ho's voyage.

Muzium Adat, Kuala Klawang Negeri Sembilan 30 August 2014

We passed by the museum while driving to Titi.

"Adat Melenggang Perut" (baby divining)
This one caught my eye the most. Perhaps it is something new to me. There is so much that I don't know.

The museum is quiet. It showcase the custom and culture of  Malaysia. There isn't any entrance fees needed.

Trick Art Museum, Water World at I-City, Shah Alam 27 October 2013

This is the highlight of the water park, the fastest ride of all. My little one burst into tears upon knowing she was slightly below the minimum required height. She is a crazy of fast rides.

Seeing the pitying sight , the guard let her take the ride once! Wiping her tears away, she ran for the ride.  When it is done, she came out laughing, saying "it is really FUN".

These days, the two siblings could take the ride just by themselves.

I had a great laugh looking at all the photos they posed at the Trick Art Museum. They were really funny. :D
After this visit, they are attracted to other Trick Art Museum. Funny children indeed.

We joined the annual Guardian Walkaton and it came with free entrance to the parks above.

Human Anatomy Museum, Neurofair 2013 at University Putra Malaysia 12 June 2013

Preserved fetus and baby at the museum.

Human Anatomy has always been an interesting subject for little Hui. Inadvertently, I knew much more facts by reading to her. At times, I wish I was equipped with more facts to answer her questions. Then on second thought, I think embracing who I am is more important than to loathe on how little I know. And so, the kids will love who they are and accept that life isn't perfect and you don't have to know it all.

This museum visit at the NeuroFair allowed her to see some actual body parts.

Istana Negara Museum, Jalan Istana, KL 22 May 2012

This is the view from the back of the Istana.

We parked at the front of Istana's entrance, registered ourselves and walked in.

Most areas are closed for visitors and we could only peeped in.

What we saw when we peeped in through the glass door pane.

I think it is very similar to the interior of some huge houses at Bukit Jalil.

Footwear has to be removed.

The kids were excited to step into the palace.

It was a well spent one hour here, reading and admiring the exhibits.

The throne in front of us.

The World Sceptre.

The royal orchestra's instruments.

This video shows how each instrument is played.

The kids were trying to remember the king's name.

The long and short keris.

Garden's view from the toilet.

Interactive screen which provides brief information.
The kids love this one.

The kids have been singing "Negaraku" in Bahasa Malaysia and were thrilled to read the English version.
I was told to capture it for them.

Free admission from April 16 to June 15, 2012.

Singapore National Museum 20 April 2012

The majestic Singapore National Museum.

When we looked up the dome, beautiful stained glass greeted us.

There are four galleries on the 1st floor, which are food, fashion, photography and drawing.

Fashion gallery showcase fashion of yesteryear in Singapore.

This I captured from the Food Gallery, char kway teow used to be wrapped with banana leaves.

A photo from the photography gallery. The bridal bouquet had long vines that touched the ground.

We were provided with a headset and gadget to view the Singapore Living History at ground floor. It provides us information in auditory and visual form when we keyed in the number depicted at the exhibits.

Funeral procession of the olden days.

An alley of the past.

We love the museum and can't finish viewing everything within 1.5 hour. The only drawback is, price of the food at the museum is pretty steep.
