The kids were squatting down and staring into the lion head structure for some time. Curious, I peeped in and saw what they admired, the bamboo structure frame under the lion used for lion dance performance.

                                             

Painstaking hard work in making the frame of the lion head. 

We saw how from scratch this frame was made.

The frame holds this furry red part of the lion.

Cooking dodol and many others which I couldn't capture as my camera battery was flat. I find this National Craft Day very informative and can't wait for next year's event.

Sketching wayang kulit puppet with pencil. The artist said ' They use goat or cow skin to make the puppet! '

Making holes with hammer and variety shapes of nails. En admiring the craft.

Colouring is done with Artline 70 marker pens. This puppet costs RM60.

Then, follow by Hui who spent some time observing the process. She prefered a sitting-down observation.

Hui was at this craft the longest. We have to plead for her to leave. She watched almost the whole process! I asked her ' Do you like "wau"? With wide-eyes, she said 'What? What is "wau"? You mean this one, kite? '  :)))

Kuda Kepang. Neither En nor Hui stared for more than 1 minute.

I was told, to let En be and use her creativity to make her own pottery. I was thankful to have a like-minded curator.

the curator made this simple cup & saucer clay as a sample for Hui to follow. 

This is Hui's version with two balls in it.

Thursday 10am

It was a quiet Thursday morning at "Hari Kraf Kebangsaan", Tent E. It took me by surprise on how eager En was, when she was invited to weave hands-on with a Mah Meri orang asli. Hui who was observing, couldn't resist the fun and asked to join in.

Seems easy.. but I just couldn't remember the steps.
