Cyclone Tube 14 February 2011

Why can't the water flows down the bottle?
Why did the water drip and bubbles escape to the top, when you shake it a little?

Swirl the bottle creating a hurricane and a vortex is formed where water gushed downward.
En tried swirling the bottle and also shake it in a horizontal position.
At the end of experiment, she said "the speed of water flowingis faster when there is little water left"

Fog 3 January 2011

View on Sunday

View on Monday.
It rained on Sunday night and the air was cooling. We loved it. :) The next morning, a white blanket of fog were formed and Hui was dazzled by it.  What a great day for me to snooze. *Yawn*  We had to cancel the bird-watching hike near Awana.

Panaroma Hill, Sg Lembing 15 October 2010

Friday 545am
Hike Panaroma Hill, Enhui's second hill attempt after Broga. Direction (from Sg Lembing Welcome Arch): Drive straight towards Sg Lembing town where you'll see a food court on your left. Turn left after food court. Go straight till the end. Park your car. It takes about 45 mins to arrive the peak but with young kids, it might take an hour (+)
We missed the entrance to the hill while stumbling in the dark. It was blocked by the cement mixer and a heap of sand. The steps are located right at the beginning of the foot hill. It took us some time to locate it. Hui was scared of the total darkness and refused to walk. After hiking approximately 3/4 of the journey, she finally broke free from dad's arm, when we were greeted by the sunlight. From there on, she climbed up happily. Poor dad!

Most of the paths are with cement steps (right) whereas the remainder is of gravel (left). It's relatively easier to climb than Broga Hill, due to the steps but it is physically more challenging.
(Left) The sea of clouds could be seen after hiking slightly more than half of the hill.  (Right) At the peak, meeting another group who were there capturing sunrise.
Sunrise. We watched the last part of it.
Eye catching sea of cloud from the peak. When we descended,  the cloud dispersed and Sg Lembing town could be seen.

A wooden chair built around the truck, left by construction workers. En was playing with one of the tool used to smoothen the steps.

Thermometer and Measurement 29 July 2010

Thursday pm.
I saw this thermometer at a bookstore and bought it.

The first reading was at 20deg c. We put it under the hot sun, and see the reading went up. Then I suggested En to put it inside the freezer, where the reading went down to  below 0, -3deg c. Then, she went on trying it at few places.  :)

En's thought on Earth Hour 27 March 2010

Friday pm.
En found out about Earth Hour that falls on Saturday, from the radio.
En told Hui, "you know tomorrow is Earth Hour, Zhang Hui. We need to switch off the lights". I love Earth day. I asked En, "Why do you like Earth Hour?". En replied " I love to save the Earth".

Saturday am.
En woke up and she remember today is Earth Hour. She said "Today is Earth Hour! I am so happy".

As a matter of fact, our lights are usually off by 8-9pm. EnHui are early sleeper.

Unschooling Ipoh & Tambun Road Trip 15 January 2010

Friday Day 5 (Last day) .
At the end of the fourth day, my energy was running low.. :) Today is the last day in Ipoh. Aunty Po Po has woken early and bought us some heang peah, kuih bangkit and kaya puff to bring home. :) So thoughtful and sweet of Aunty Po Po. En said "Thank you Aunty Po Po" before she left home. Aunty Po Po told her to come again.

Aunty Po Po went for breakfast with us. She brought us to a kopitiam in Ipoh Garden. She worried and at the same amazed of us, for bringing so many kids on a trip! Hui gave her hug before we departed. :)

I took Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah and turn right to Jalan Raja Dr Nazrin Shah. From here, I took exit E1 and back to Simpang Pulai toll.

We decided to stop by Gua Tempurung on the way home. We exited Gopeng Interchange. At the T junction, we could see the Gua Tempurung sign, turn right. About 5km, turn left and we reached Gua Tempurung in about 2km.

Fai, Han & Hui @outside Gua Tempurung
What did Han and Hui talk about! ?

There are 4 different tours available. We took Tour 1 Golden Flowstone, the shortest one that took about 40 mins. For safety reason, there was a tour guide who brought us into the cave and provided us with information of the cave. We climbed over 200 steps and stood at the heights of 90metres at the top. We were shown all sort of images resembled on the cave wall. En said 'she could see all the images'. Hui also nodded. The cave interior; its sight, colour, smell, and sound are so great! Being a novice in caving, Gua Tempurung is a real eyeopener. En wanted to go further into the cave.. . We will go again one day.
