A get-together homeschoolers from Cheras, PJ, Kepong, Damansara, Subang and Kota Kemuning. :) I felt great being there, knowing the fact that I am not 'alone'.

First day of homeschooling 3 January 2011
Today, is supposed to be En's first day at Primary 1. Inevitably, I was emotional about it and began to question my ability of unschooling her at home. My spirit dampened by my lack of knowledge in everything. Holding back my thoughts, I observed what En was doing.
I saw her, lying down comfortably, reading few books at one go. Moving back and forth from one book to the other. Self - directed.
That put me back on track. And sensing my distress, my hubby gave me a crash course on homeschooling wonders. :) So grateful to have a supportive partner.

Anyway, children don't need, don't want, and couldn't stand six hours of teaching a day, even if parents wanted to do that much. To help them find out about the world doesn't take that much adult input.
Most of what they need, parents have been giving them since they were born. As I have said, they need access. They need a chance, sometimes, for honest, serious, unhurried talk; or sometimes, for joking, play, and foolishness; or sometimes for tenderness, sympathy, and comfort. They need, much of the time, to share your life, or at least, not to feel shut out of it, in short, to go some places you go, see and do some of the things that interest you, get to know some of your friends, find out what you did when you were little and before they were born. They need to have their questions answered, or at least heard and attended to - if you don't know, say "I don't know". They need to know more and more adults whose main work in life is not taking care of kids. They need some friends their own age, but not dozens of them; two or three, at most half a dozen, is as many real friends as any child can have at one time. Perhaps above all, they need a lot of privacy, solitude, calm, times when there's nothing to do.
The average parent, family, circle of friends, neighbourhood, and community can and do provide all of these things, perhaps not as well as they once did or might again, but well enough. People do not need a Ph.D. or some kind of certificate to help children find their way into the world - John Holt

Red ants on the calabash fruit. Young fruit can be eaten as vegetable. Old fruits has hard shell which can be made into container or musical instruments. En found this abandoned nest.

This is the best tree for EnHui to climb. No ants on it. :) It's located next to the water play area.

At night, you have to park at the adjacent multi-storey car park.
En likes to pop out all the tabs on the parking coupon.
SGD2 from 10pm to 7am. 50cent for 30minutes in the day.
ERP charges and parking fees at malls and attractions will be deducted automatically from 'Autopass'.

Singapore Underwater World, Sentosa Island 27 December 2010
Monday afternoon.
Aunty B got us complimentary tickets to Underwater World. *GRIN*.
Dolphin Lagoon has relocated from its previous location by the beach to Underwater World. It's best to visit near the show time at 230pm & 3pm, and it takes approximately one hour or less to complete viewing Underwater World.

When the temperature soared, we were ushered to Dolphin Suite, a cafe with aircond and cushioned seats upstair where we could catch the next show at 3pm by Dolphin Lagoon at the same stage, comfortably. Big thanks to Aunt B.
Adult SGD10 and child SGD5 entrance fee to Dolphin Suite. This amount can be exchanged with beverage and cakes at the cafe.
Watched dolphin performance cozily from the cooling cafe as opposed to the outdoor stage.
Go early to avoid dissapointment as seats are limited.
Feed the fishes or stingray. Food can be bought from the dispenser.
Hui's fav color of jelly fish and it colors keep changing,

Singapore Zoo & Night Safari 26 December 2010
Saturday am.
It was a whole day outing at the Zoo and Night Safari. Exhausted! If I have more days in Singapore, I would definitely go to Night Safari the next day. :) On the other hand, EnHui and I went to both Singapore Zoo and Night Safari on the same day in March 2010 but we didn't feel lethargic. Perhaps it was the school holiday crowd that drained our energy.
Ample of short and sweet info with pictures available. En has yet to find it interesting.

The wagon has a roof now! This time around, we pull 4 kids with it ! Put the seat back down. Kids sat on it with dangling legs. SGD15 for rental.
Such a meaningful message, don't you think?
We watched these elephants bathing a few times, watched their performances and sat on them. Today, it's our first time, seeing them strolling at the zoo.
After countless of times at Singapore Zoo, we still came across new enclosures!
Proboscis monkey is one of them. When sweet food is digested by bacteria in the proboscis monkey's stomach, gas and acid are produced quickly. The gas fills the monkeys like a balloon and they may burst and die!!!
Ring-tailed lemur crawled freely at the "Fragile Forest", one of the not-to-be-missed area.
En ventured into water slide at Kids Zone for the first time.

Countdown to Year 2011 1 January 2011
I had a wonderful night embracing new year with good friends and a new found good friend at Desa Park City, by the open space field. It's so great chatting the night away while kids running around freely. The sparkling firework last for about 7-8 minutes with applause and cheers from onlookers. Such beauty to marvel at.

Wednesday night. 
Hui suggested "Mom, let's do a scrap book". She got the idea from Pooh Bear story book. So, we got En's old scrap book out and did three pages together. :)
