Ideo, the place where we stayed is just a stone throw away from Lat Phrao MRT station, which is excellent for EnHui. We took the MRT to Sala Daeng station. At Sala Daeng, we walked to the BTS skytrain Silom station and head to Saphan Taksin station where Tha Sathon Pier is.
At Sathon Pier, a white-and-red express public boat run every 20minutes (6am to 6pm) We paid the fare once on board, 48baht (RM4.80) for the four of us. You can stop any of the route along the Chao Praya. Tourist can also take a tourist boat that takes you around some of the attractions and comes with explanation. Adult 150baht Child 70baht.
Left- EnHui with BTS ticket machine. Right- Conductor on the boat @Chao Praya.
Left- Wat Arun view from the boat. It is just opposite Tha Tien stop.
The name and number of each stop is displayed at the jetty. Tha Tien is the stop for Grand Palace. I decided not to go to the Grand Palace and boarded a Tuk Tuk to Hua Lamphong BTS station, knowing EnHui will have a greater time at Ocean World than Grand Palace under the hot sun. En has been asking for Tuk Tuk since day 1.
100baht to Hua Lamphong station from Tha Tien.
From Hua Lamphong, is only 4 stations away to Siam station, where Siam Paragon, Central World, MBK and Siam Square are. We saw the partly burn charred building of Central World from the train. Siam Ocean World is located at the basement of Siam Paragon.
Left- Security checkpoint are set up at malls and train station.
Right- Potato kiosk at the ground floor of Siam Paragon. It is a food paradise here.
This potato stick is so tasty and I love it. ;) It comes with few flavours (click on the left photo).
Siam Ocean World is the biggest aquarium in South East Asia. I didn't have much expectation at first, thinking that Singapore Underwater World will beat this one here. Well, I was totally wrong. ;p
Adult entrance fee is 900baht. Child above 80cm is 700baht. A family of four will get to buy a family package at 3200baht that comes with 4D-x-venture short movie, glass bottom boat, back of house tour, fish spa and 4 sets of pepsi and salted popcorn.
You may want to jot down the show time before you go as there isn't any black & white copy provided. I took a photo of it and yet, I feel that a hardcopy will be handy.
The back of the house tour took about 10minutes - we were shown the water filteration system, an injured black stingray which was bit by a shark, being segregated, saw shark eggs and baby shark at the fish hospital, a metal gloves that are used for shark feeding and some information on the fishes. Don't take the tour if you are behind the line as you won't be able to hear the guide and see what he is talking about.
Left- the glass bottom boat that goes on top of the tunnel-aquarium. Over here, you can see the size of the fishes 30% bigger than from the tunnel glass-view.
Right- Hui was being fed to the shark.
Fish spa! En didn't want to try when we went for a free session when she was 4. This time around, she gradually put her legs in.
The 4D adventure movie got EnHui ran to the back when the seat shook and water splashed to our face.! This place is great!
