Writing down your dream 12 September 2014

I helped her pen down this part of the dream. 

My 7 year old love to write down her dream. Most of the time, she can remember the dream vividly. By listening to her and helping her writing it down, enable connection from the right brain to the left brain. Creativity right brain needs to be connected to the left which is the output (read, write, speak) brain. She drew out the images where I will ask questions like its colour, shapes, sizes etcetera for connection to occur as she speaks. It is also a precious moment where I spend time listening to her.   

Imaginary story 11 February

Imagine (right brain) and draw/write down (left brain), connects the right brain to the left one. :)

While 'writing' (scribbling) down, Hui murmured " Baby ghost cries, so mommy ghost swings baby ghost. Baby ghost cries again and mommy ghost swings her again."  

This is a jelly, a shape of a princess (that is her).

Board game 23 January 2011

The night ended with Pop Up Play Shopping (DK Toys & Games) with the four of us. We had superb fun.

Rolled the 12-sided dice, where players need to recognise number and read forfeit or bonus instruction. It involves counting backward and forward. When a player lands on a trolley symbol, he/she turns over two shopping cards (photo below). When the cards match the pictures or his/her lotto board, the player keeps them. Otherwise, the cards are turned back over in the same place.  The winner is the first player to collect all eight shopping cards on his/her lotto board.

Players have to remember where the cards are that they need to collect. This part stimulates the photographic memory of the right brain.

Caring Moment 12 January 2011

Wednesday 9am
At Taman Tasik Menjalara.

En ran towards the tunnel slide, upon seeing Hui sliding down. She wanted to remind her of the crack at the bottom of the slide.

"Slow down, slow down, mei mei, the slide is broken"

There are 6 important points in the education of the heart which influences parents on how to they view their children:

1. Don't look at the weak point or shortcomings. Focus on his/her strong points and praise him/her from that.
2. Don't look at the present form as the completed form, know that the child is growing in progress and believe that he/she will continue to improve.
3. Don't be a perfectionist. Try to think that it is okay not to be perfect or it's okay not to be able to do a certain thing now.
4. Don't compare. Every child has a potential to be the best. Our child is growing at his/her own pace.
5. Don't put priority in academic achievements. Recognise his/her effort even if he/she does not do well.
6. Learn to see the child as perfect - just as he/she is.

A change in the parents' view toward their child will change the child. Normally, parents view their child in a negative way because (1) parents set standards to evaluate their children, and (2) parents compare their own children with others. Once parents change their mindset to a positive one, children will relax and start opening up their heart. As a result, their brain will be developed. It will not be long before they develop into wonderful children - Makoto Shichida.

Flag? no flag? 24 November 2010

The first thing they bellowed, when they saw the pool, " There is a flag! There is a flag! " Then I asked, 'Previously, there wasn't any flag ? ' Both exclaimed "NO".  Well, I could not recall at all  Young children has this amazing photographic memory ability. Why did we lose it as we grow older?

A tricky eye-training 11 November 2010

Left- Hui was doing an eye-training sheet drawn by En. It consists of dots where Hui joined it to make zig zag lines. This vision pattern improve their eye movement and broaden the field of vision. After preparing the same pattern again and again, En came up with a 'tricky eye training' piece, so she called. It consists of yellow, orange and purple dots. Hui has to join only the orange dots and skip the rest to create the zig zag lines.

Wednesday am

She assembled the 48 pieces set without help, which she started 2 days ago.

Another two new sets she assembled on her own.

She joyfully showed me her work. What amazed me was, she recalled the exact location when she picks up the jigsaw pieces and know the description as well. Right - example, she said 'this is the father bear's ear and it's here. (the tiny ear on the right side of the jigsaw piece).

Young children displays amazing photo-memory ability, a right brain memory that allows us to remember things in a flash.

Sunday night.
When En returned to the room, she slept thru till 130am. I whispered in her ear, right after she fell asleep, " En is sleeping now and mommy is talking to you. You can hear mommy very well. Go to sleep while mommy talks to you. Mommy and En are united in our heart and mind. En loves the world and the world loves you. You are connected to the power of universe and you can use that big cosmic power. You have the complete healing power in you and you can heal yourself. Your fever is completely gone now. You have made it go away. Mommy loves you very much."

At 130am, En woke up and bombarded me with tons of questions..the whys, hows and whats. I touched her forehead and her fever has gone. :)

En went inside a cup of Milo! 6 June 2010

Sunday.
En saw herself shrinking into a tiny person. She walked to the cup of Milo I prepared, climbed up and  stood at the rim of a cup of Milo I made.

(Q) Is the Milo with ice?
En - It 's warm. I am so tiny and a cold Milo will make me freeze.. (bursted with laughter)
Let's dive in before anyone can see me. Go deep inside or I will get scoop up.

(Q) How is it like?
En - It's dark. (She swam around)  Oh did you hear the sound? Someone is coming into the kitchen. Keep quiet. ( a moment later, she shouted) oh there is a shark. Let's come out and quickly run out of the kitchen. And get back to my normal size.

For a proper functioning of the right brain, one must become accustomed to the thinking habits that surpassed the common sense - prof Shichida.

We moved on to play a clairvoyance game. En touched 5 hidden shapes cards and pointed to the heart shape location when asked. When the chosen card  was flipped over, the heart shape was revealed.

Then, she predicted the colour of the last balloon that came out of the box correctly.

I sent her a blue diamond shape through telephaty  She looked at me and said 'you didn't send it'. And yes, she was right. I could not image it at all.
So i tried again.. and  she pointed to the blue diamond.

Later on, I wanted to send her an orange colour .. and I imagined myself cutting the orange for her, smelling and tasting the orange. So she said "orange".

Friday 845am.
En : "Let's picnic at the park".
I : Ok. (seeing Hui naked..). Zhang hui, please put on clothes.
Hui : It's ok, there is noboby at the park.
(I peeped through the curtain and truly, there was no one at the park ! not even a cleaner. )

Thursday 230pm
We were driving towards grandma's home. Just 5 minitues before we arrived, Hui blurted "gu gu(uncle) is back". At this hour, my brothers are at work. So I asked "Which gu gu?" Hui replied "big gu gu". When I arrived, lo and behold, my elder brother 's car is at home! My mom who was waiting at the gate, got into my car. We drove to the clinic for mom's doctor appt. I asked mom "Elder brother is not working today?". My mom replied " He just got back couple of minutes ago." !!

Thursday night.
En said " Dad will be at the lift".
I : How do you know?

When we parked the car and walked to the lift, dada wasn't there. En seems to anticipate his arrival. Finally, the lift arrived, suddenly Dad walked into the lift lobby!

Two arabic words 3 April 2010

Saturday 730am.
We  watched "Forces of Nature" documentary at Singapore Omni-theatre on 23 March. When it talked about earthquake, the interior part of the blue mosque  in Istanbul was shown. En remarked that, the arabic words shown are the same as the ones in Al-Safa Restaurant back home.

This morning, we had our breakfast at Al-Safa. She pointed to me, the two arabic words that are displayed on the wall. She said " It is the same as the ones in Singapore". The words are separated in two frames.  Between these two words, are three picture frames of mosques.

I can't remember at all. And I dont even notice there are two arabic words on the wall!

Thursday evening.
En began an imaginary play and I went along..

En: what is this ? (pointing with her pointer)
Mom:  (I turned and looked) Which one?
En: this one. (pointing with her pointer again)
Mom: Which one? Stand fan?
En: This one.. can you see ?
Mom: (I realised she is pointing to something invisible in the air).. huh..this one.. I don't know. What does it look like?
En: (looking and thinking) It is a frog.
Mom: ehm.. a green frog.. look, there is a crescent moon up there. (pointing up)
En: It's beautiful
Mom:  It's surrounded by many sparkling star .. look a shooting star is coming from there..
En: (ran towards it and catch it with her hand.) Look, I got the shooting star, mom. (showing her cupped-hand) What else do you see?
Mom: a planet. Purple. What is that planet?
En:  (ran towards it, took the planet and shake it with both hands) See I got it.
Mom: Why did you shake it?
En: I shaked the aliens out because they are scary. See there is no alien now. What else is there?
Mom: God.
En: I can't take God. He needs to look after everyone.
Mom: What will happen if you take him?
En: I can't. He needs to take care of everyone.
