Day 1 at Grace Farm, Serendah, Selangor 26 October 2012

We had a short escape from the hustle and bustle of city life at Grace Farm. The location of the farm is not too far which is another plus point.

Kris, the person is charge is humble and calmly caters to every whims of the children and adults alike.  We are grateful to have him and his team with us.

We slept in dormitory-type of accommodation with two attached cold showers and one toilet. There are also common shower and toilet available outside the dorm. We are comfortable with the facilities.

We paid RM160 per person which includes meal (2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 dinners), dorm and activities.

Feeding the cow.

Milking the goat.

She is very much a nature girl whom I admire a great deal.

Come on goat, come one, let's go back to the pen.

Mother hen being patted.

Covering the ostrich eyes made my kid mad and sad, let alone sitting on it.

Tapping the rubber tree.

Ploughing and raking the soil.

The way to the vegetable farm.

Trying a hand on harvesting the vegetables.

The shrimp pond, some ducks and a German Shepherd which the kids fell in love with.

Fish pond.

Debra, Kris's wife led a game for our group after our dinner.

Your girls have very kind hearts. I am glad they felt for the poor ostrich. If the farm owners are going to cover her eyes, they might as well not keep an ostrich just to make her miserable. I would like to visit this farm, though. Serendah is very near my childhood home, Rawang. I would love to learn how to tap rubber and milk a goat. I am sure Aravind will disagree with my choice of a weekend escape, he is very much a city boy, haha!

Hi Shannon, I was just browsing through your posts. I must say that I am hooked to your blog. I am very impressed with your efforts in homeschooling your children. I have a 3-year old daughter and I have decided to introduce a natural learning environment. I love your empathy towards the animals and your all-encompassing learning approach. I love the fact that you have visited the museums and also the mosque. It's a wonderful way to teach our children acceptance and to respect differences. And all the camping trips sound so exciting! Now I don't have many friends who are stay at home moms and I feel quite alone in this journey. My daughter and I would love to join in any future trips that you organize. Can we join the group?

Love,
Geeta
